Mumbai FC will host visitors Chirag United of Kolkata in the final home game of the season. I League’s 21st round will be played at the Cooperage grounds on Wednesday, April 1 at 4 pm.
Stats suggests no favourites
The two sides have met 3 times in the last two seasons. Mumbai FC beat Chirag 1-0 in the 2nd division last season to lift the title. This season however, neither side have been able to better their head to head record as they drew both encounters, goalless at the Federation Cup tie and 1-1 in I League’s first encounter.
Chirag staring at relegation
Chirag United are in the middle of a 5 team relegation battle. They currently occupy the 11th spot in the standings which means they are in the drop zone. However, they are tied on points with JCT who sit on 10th and Mohammedan Sporting and Air India are 2 and 3 points above respectively.
The Purple brigade has all to play for against Mumbai FC as the match promises to be a high intensity affair.
Awaiting Mumbai’s 100th goal
Mumbai FC will be eager to score the landmark 100th goal in all official competitions. Usual suspects for scoring goal no. 100 include the Club’s top scorer K Kulothungan, Abhishek Yadav, Abel Hammond, Felix Aboagye, Riston Rodrigues and Alex Ambrose. The 100th goal contest on mumbaifc.com allows contestants a chance to win the limited edition replica jersey signed by the goal scorer and also Mumbai FC’s leisure wear t-shirt.
