Yesterday we unveiled our new recruit in the form of reliable defender Mehrajuddin Wadoo in order to strengthen their defence and bounce back in style.

Wadoo is an experienced player with 32 caps & 2 goals for India. He can play as a right back or feature in the defensive midfield role with ease. Having played with East Bengal, Mohun Bagan & FC Pune City to name a few, the 32 year old has vast experience of playing in I League & Indian Super League. But this is the first time he signed for a Mumbai based club and is excited about the fact, “I am looking forward to playing with my new team and have a great season with them. I will try to use my experience and strength to help them achieve its target and overturn the bad run of form.”

Player History

Wadoo started his senior career with J & K Police and later played for HAL and ITI Limited. During his time at ITI, he got noticed by scouts from Mohun Bagan. The club immediately roped him in and that marked the defenders first step amongst the big league boys.

The Srinagar born player spent 3 seasons at Bagan in the I-League before representing city rivals East Bengal (2007-11), Salgaocar (2011-12), Mohun Bagan again (2012-13), Mohammeden (2013-14), Bharat FC (2014-15) and Sporting Goa (2016).

Being an ISL 2015 winner with Chennaiyin FC, Wadoo is not at all worried about the position that he might play at for Mumbai. “Santosh Kashyap is a great manager and I would love to fulfil whatever positional role he gives me in the best interest of the team.”

The 6 ft tall Wadoo will don the Mumbai jersey with his favourite no. 26 at the back and will be available to play Chennai City FC today.
