Mumbai face Aizawl FC in a tough fixture away from home in the 12th round of fixtures in the I-League. This will be Mumbai’s first away game in a three-game away stretch with tough travels to Mohun Bagan and Pune next.

Aizawl FC has been a revelation this season seated at 2nd spot in the table under former Mumbai coach Khalid Jamil. They have been on a four unbeaten game run with 3 wins and a draw. They have been unbeaten this season at home with just 3 goals conceded. With the stringent defense, Mumbai have their task cut out ahead of the game.

Mumbai will surely be boosted by the return of defender Lalchhawnkima who has struggled with injury issues for a large portion of the season. He will like to be a part of the Mumbai defense which has been on a brilliant run with 3 clean sheets at home. Manager Kashyap remarked on Kim Kima’s return, “Kima is fit now and I have another day to take a call on his fitness.”

The defensive partnership of Djelaludin Sharityar and Mehrajudin Wadoo has been brilliant at the back with the ever dependable Laxmikant Kattimani in goal shining with a hatrick of clean sheets. Mumbai are further bolstered with the signing of Baljit Sahni who will be a welcome addition to the attacking front that has lacked in goals.

The gaffer gave his opinion on Mumbai’s struggles up front and the opponent, “We are a better side now than we were when we played them in Mumbai. But it’s still a big challenge as Aizawl is probably the most challenging away game in the I-League.

“We played well in the home games and could have won two games out of them. We need one goal and then we can capitalize on that to climb up the standings,” he continued.

Mumbai are currently on the 9th spot with 9 points from 11 games meanwhile Aizawl FC are at the second place with 23 points from 11 matches.
