Brazil is a country that is dubbed as the Land of Football or 'o País do Futebol' in Portuguese. The country has been traditionally one of the biggest powerhouses in world football since decades. The streets of Brazil are laden with immensely talented footballers that have lit the world football stage alight such as Pele, Ronaldo, Ronaldinho and most recently Neymar Jr.

Alex Willian is a Brazilian player who shares his childhood club with Neymar, Santos FC. Alex rose through the ranks at Santos and made his official first team debut in 2008 at a young age of 20. Since then, he has been a journeyman of sorts in Brazilian football having played for 15 clubs in the Samba nation including Botafogo and Atletico Paranaense. The most recent Brazilian club that he played for was Cuiabá which played in Serie C in Brazil.

It is not fit to compare the country of Brazil to Mumbai, where Alex currently plies his trade in the I-League and on the occasion of his birthday, we do not wish to. But, the passion that Brazilians have for football is a quality that every Mumbai FC fan wishes to emulate. With the signing of Alex, Mumbai FC added a talented attacking midfielder to their roster with a killer left foot to boast of. Alex is great in deadball situations and always a danger from set-pieces.

Alex is currently nursing a groin injury and we wish him a speedy recovery. The international break couldn't have come at a better time for Alex as he gets time to recover and rejuvenate for the final stretch of the I-League campaign.

Four home games in a row at the Cooperage presents a wonderful chance for the side and Alex to shine and rise above the relegation places and avoid the drop. Alex will be raring to go and the fans in Mumbai will hope to see the man-bun wielding Brazilian turn his magic on and get Mumbai much needed wins.

Feliz Aniversario, Alex! Have a great one.
