Chinta Chandrashekhar Rao or "Chinta" as he is fondly called began his footballing career in Goa coming up the ranks at Sporting Club de Goa. He played there till 2010 before moving on to another Goan team Salgaocar for the 10-11 season. Chirag United Kerala was his next club where he played for two seasons from 2011 to 2013. He moved to Prayag United and Mumbai Tigers before going back to Salgaocar on loan for I-League 2014-15 season. He joined Mumbai FC for the 2016-17 I-League season.

On the I-League campaign...

We began the campaign on a great note but since then the situation hasn't been ideal. We have struggled with goals but not for lack of effort. All the players are giving their best for the club. Once we convert more of our chances and goals start coming, we will be back on track for the final stretch of the season.

On his new role as a Defensive Midfielder...

I usually play centre-back but have earlier played as a defensive midfielder too. Initially, the change was a little difficult but with more games, I feel I have grown into that position and adapted to it. Also, playing alongside an experienced campaigner like Densil Theobald has helped me.

On the looming threat of relegation...

Winning and losing are part and parcel of the game. As a player, I have to do my job with utmost dedication and for the cause of the club. The I-League season is a tough grind and results do go against you. We have a great staff at our hand who help us get ready in such a tough schedule with all the travel involved. We will fight till the last match to get a positive outcome for the club.

On the Mumbai fans' support...

The Mumbai fans have been amazing with their support for the club and the players. I appreciate the Yellow Brigade who always show up for the games in large numbers and chant for us. It really motivates me and the players to do well for the city and the club. The fans act like the 12th man for us. I hope they continue to support us through these tough times as well.
