Laxmikant Kattimani was signed by Mumbai on loan from Indian Super League side FC Goa at the beginning of the season. His performances throughout the season have been nothing short of exemplary. His showings between the sticks have catapulted him to the status of a huge fan favorite with chants and songs in his name ringing around the Cooperage at home games.

Laxmikant was born and brought up in Goa and began his footballing career in 2008 with Vasco. He then moved on to Dempo SC and stayed there for a long tenure of 7 years until 2016. He was drafted by the ISL side FC Goa and has featured for them prominently since 2015. Mumbai signed him on loan at the beginning of the I-League 2016-17 season.

Kattimani has been a strong presence in goal since the beginning of the season producing a couple of Hero of the Match performances for his shot stopping ability. He has maintained 4 clean sheets in the 14 league games played so far. Mumbai take on Churchill Brothers in the next game with both teams battling it out for survival in India's top tier.

On the team's preparations ahead of the Churchill game...

The team has been training well for the Churchill tie. The break gave us an opportunity to re-strategize and come together with the new coach's training methods. The preparations have been going well and the team is feeling confident in all aspects of the game.

On the new manager Oscar Bruzon...

The new manager has been really good in training. He is a great tactician and the players have adjusted well to his style of play. The players are trying to learn quickly what he wants on the field from the team. He has had a few days ahead of the game but he has been doing really well.

On Mumbai's struggle for survival in the I-League...

We know we are in a bad position but I can assure you that the team is doing all that we can for changing that. The boys are training out of their skins to get the results on the field. We aren't letting the pressure of relegation get to us. The team is feeling confident in training and will give it's best to rise up in the table and avoid the drop.

Message to the Mumbai fans...

I assure the fans that we are giving our best to live up to their expectations. The fans have been a really huge support to us throughout the season. We value your support very highly and I urge all the fans to come in large numbers for all the remaining games. Believe in Us, We Will Give our Best for Mumbai !
