The Reserves squad are participating in the All India BSA Cup, an 8-team knockout tournament, alongside Ambernath All Stars, Mohun Bagan, Salgaocar, Dempo, Central Railways, Western Railways, and Abbas Union.

The Mumbaikars were drawn to play against hosts Abernath All Stars and they couldn’t have stamped their authority any better as they went on to win 5-0.

The first goal was scored from a deflected free-kick by Azfar Noorani after a Mumbai player was felled a few yards outside the box. Vinil Poojari rounded in the second as he met Joel Dias’ ball to take a 2-0 lead into half-time for Mumbai.

The second half saw more intensity and determination from the Mumbaikars as they were looking to capitalise and build on the two goal lead. Yogesh Kadam scored the third goal as he picked up a loose ball from the corner, dribbled and scored.

Mayur Suvare became the fourth name on the scoreheet as he made it 4-0 from Vinil Poojari’s assist. And Yogesh Kadam got his brace and completed the rout with an assist from Deepak Apte.

After the match assistant coach Siddhesh Shinde said, “The boys played very well. They were quite clinical. We hope to build on this win!”

The Mumbai Reserves face Salgaocar today in the semi-finals at 5:30 PM. Come on you Mumbaikars!
